What Have We Been Up To in 2018?

By Mary Holmes

It has been an exciting start to the year for Integrated Move Management. The projects we have taken on have been quite diverse, which certainly keeps things interesting! I thought I would summarize a few of our favorites here to give you a better understanding of the services we offer.

Preparing for a Move

We are working with a husband and wife who have just become empty nesters and are preparing to downsize. They currently live in a beautiful antique home in Yarmouth, Maine full of years of memories. As part of getting their home ready to put on the market for sale, the interior will be painted, the wood floors will be refinished, and the home professional staged - so the situation could be quite chaotic. But we are methodically working through each room of the home - sorting, packing and dropping items at a storage unit, donation sites, and transfer facilities. The clients are happy with the progress and feeling less stressed than they did when they called us.

Preparation for Real Estate Market

We worked on a two stage project with a senior in Brunswick, Maine that moved to Pennsylvania. We first got her ready to move by interviewing and hiring the mover and packing for her move. Once she was safely on her way, we were charged with getting the house ready to be put on the market. The realtor preferred the house to be empty, so we sold many items, donated even more items and took care of recycling and trash. The house has now been cleaned and is ready to be put on the market.

Settling In

One of our next projects will be to meet a moving truck coming from Pennsylvania to Portland, Maine – first at a storage facility to move some boxes into a storage unit and then at the new home of our client to unpack and settle him in, including removing all boxes and packing material. We are very happy when we get to set up the clients’ living space, since this is one of our favorite services we offer. It is such a great feeling to know that a client can walk in the door and start living their new live without the stress of having to unpack and the potential safety hazard of tripping over boxes.

Just Moving

We worked with a senior in Yarmouth, Maine that lives in her son’s home. There are two apartments in the home and our client was living in the first floor apartment. She decided that the second floor apartment would be better for her. Although she had several furniture items, multiple boxes, food and clothing to be moved – the job was too small for a traditional moving company. Our team was able to help her in a matter of a few hours. She was happy with both the service we provided and the reasonable fee we charged.
